World mental health day, please take two minutes There's a direct link between depression, body dysmorphia and social media. Mental health is a side of health we can't physically see and therefore from experience we tend to forget it's there, even though, it usually effects so many people we love. Social media has impacted the world in so many ways, it provides a platform for voices to be heard, new business's to get off the ground and enables awareness of political and social issues and makes it easy for everyone to share their opinion. Unfortunately, it also has resulted in an internet generation (we are all guilty of being apart of) proven to have lower self esteem.. Comparing lifestyles, bodies, careers and relationships to our own which has resulted in the direct link between increased mental health issues particularly in young people and the over use of social media. So I came across this before, I couldn't think of a message with more substance than this right now, women's insecurities are higher now than ever and yeah social media is the demon of a lot of girls self hate and torture. Compare yourself to the next girl you scroll past, we've all done it no matter what size, age or shape you are. People assume because I'm a "size 8" petite frame I don't feel the pressures and constant comparisons, I do. INSTAGRAM ISNT REAL LIFE. MY SHOOTS ARENT REAL LIFE. Stop comparing yourself and giving in to changing yourself and hating yourself because you think you're 'meant' to look like the girls next to you.
