Те, про що не слід мовчати

#MeToo – хештег, який об'єднав жінок. У мережі тисячі публікацій, у яких вони розповідають про сексуальне домагання. Нагадаємо, що почалося це опісля численних заяв голлівудських актрис, які звинуватили режисера Харві Вайнштейна в тому, що він їх домагався.

I'm almost 18 and still call someone every time I leave the house, I run through alleys, I take longer routes just to be surrounded by the public, I make sure I know someone on each street I walk- I live in fear because we haven't addressed the issue. we, as women, are not for the taking. A moment before I took this photo I was walking into my apartment building alone, at night, when a car paused so the driver could yell out the window at me, “Ho!” I don’t know that man and even if I did, who the fuck cares. This is a small example of what it’s like day to day for most women. I am a survivor and because I am it has taken me too long to realize that what I experienced tonight (and have over and over) is massively problematic. As a survivor you focus on the getting past the trauma. On coming back to life and overcoming what you have suffered. I had a bar that was set quite high (or low) for what was unacceptable and that meant other actions just floated by. I didn’t have the capacity to deal with being catcalled, verbally assaulted, and who knows what else. Now I give myself permission to see the small yet massive things that lead to assault, abuse, and rape. I don’t know who just called me a whore, and even if I did, I still wouldn’t deserve that. #metoo
