This one really means something to me. It has become so rare to find a place which seems to be completely untouched (and not million times photographed) I was roaming through a beautiful forest hoping to capture some nice light rays, but nada, no fog no rays... but suddenly I saw water shimmering through the wood. Some trees where obviously nibbled off by beavers which is always a good sign for intact nature. Great day, great impressions, a happy Martin :-) #landscape #nature #lake #bayern# #zugspitze #sunset

Laser meets Lightning | One of my fav thunderstorm shots from 2011. As #ESO tested the new Wendelstein #laser guide star unit by shooting a powerful laser beam into the atmosphere, one of the region’s intense summer #thunderstorms was approaching — a very visual demonstration of why ESO’s #telescopes are in Chile, and not in Germany. Heavy grey clouds threw down bolts of #lightning as I took timelapse photographs of the test. With purely coincidental timing I snapped this photograph just as a lightning flashed. Although the storm was still far from the observatory, the #lightning appears to clash with the laser beam in the sky.
